vr is niche, most people here see it as a meme, vrchat in particular is home to "the enemy" according to like 80% of /v/ (read: liberals, non binary, pretty much anything that isnt a straight white right wing male) nobody is making games for VR because there are no players nobody is playing VR because there are no games and the hardware for it is shit, it had a surge in popularity when facebook decided to subsidize the cost of a VR headset for everyone but its still just a gimmick. My meta quest 3 is sitting next to my PC right now i havent touched it in 6 months and the last time I did touch it was to play a game thats been in early access for years and is still a buggy unfun mess

Games and mods being gatekept behind Quest really killed momentum early, and on top of that the indie devs really only know how to make FPS games or experimental tech demos. There are some legit games that are great, even Tetris Effect is worth checking out for its amazing presentation, but they don't justify the cost.

I just don't like how inconvenient the whole VR thing sounds. I just want to sit and chill you know? A monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse. That's all I need. I hated that I had to use microphones and headphones for online games and now I have to clutter my room even more to play games worse than what wii had? No, thank you. I would love a VR headset to play VRChat with my friends without being restricted to Desktop mode, as well as test out VR mods for various games I enjoy. Maybe I'd play Half-Life: Alyx, but there otherwise aren't a lot of VR-exclusive games I'm interested in, so getting a headset isn't really a priority right now. It's one of those things where if I somehow come into enough money to get one, sure I'd like it, but it's not the end of the world if I can't get one.

because there's still barely any games for VR. The shit that people recommend is the same shit that was recommended like 10 fucking years ago. It's STILL beat saber, h3vr, superhot, job simulator, blade and sorcery, bonelab/works, alyx. There hasn't been any good NEW shit for a long ass time, everything that's new is early access slop liable to get fucking dropped, or a less than subtle money grab (into the radius 2 after they completely fucked over anyone who bought the first by saying "yeah all the shit about mod kits and extra content? we're not doing that, buy the new game!") There need to be GAAAAAAAAAAAMES. but there's no fucking games so VR will continue to fail.

Honestly, VR is shit unless you are balls deep. The standalone experience is very niche and holds vr back and the enthusiast pcvr experience bars out 99% of /v/s userbase. What you currently want to do if you are neither in the vr chat niche or have a simple game you grind daily like rhythm shit is going flat2vr. Mods currently flood the net and many of them are exceptional. But to really enjoy it you need beefy hardware and a beefy headset. At current prices shit puts you easily way north of 5k investment for hardware. There are very little people who gonna do that and the most overlap is with simfags who are Intimate with the paypiggy experience. I can sing VRs praises right now, but I can't really recommend to open your wallet for it to people who aren't alrdy hooked.
