Ever since Death Stranding I'm hoping Kojima put Yoji Shinkawa on a new mecha game, one where you'd walk around and care about the terrain legs let you cross.

Not really. Kojima is a nobody to me outside Metal Gear Solid.
I'd have never picked up any of his games if he didn't really make the kind of genre games he made. He only has MGS to define him as a somebody because the facade quickly fell apart on Death Stranding.
