sonic could've ended with the adventure series and it would've been known as an absolute gem of a franchise with a cult following. There were like one or two sonic games at this point that were mediocre at worst. We were so close to it too.
Instead, we live in a world where sonic the hedgehog is a walking corpse of a franchise with 50 different stories because sega and sonic team have absolutely no idea what concepts like "canon" or "concrete story" or "continuity" are.
