PC's a pain in the dick because the variability of PCs often means your's will have niche and unique problems. While usually solvable (I'm not a moron), it's still annoying to have to go through the rigamarole. That being said, PC is becoming more of my preferred platform. The only reason I'm still on console is because of Nintendo and their exclusives plus the fact I'm too much of a wuss to break the law.

I mean console is a pretty good option if you are like normalfag that gets to play 3-4 hours in weekends I guess, otherwise PC is king if you play a lot, you pay a lot more for hardware, but you get to pirate most of the games, play kbm if you want, maybe even grind some games while watching something if you feel grindy and don't wanna do some story game. Able to play indies, RTS or other stuff like that.
Easily swappable parts to upgrade. PC operation systems are much more comfier than console ones, that shit genuinely makes me want to vomit.
Funnily enough I noticed another thing while consoles are supposed to be more narrow equipment, built for gaming, it feels like all enthusiasts use PCs, while the console crowd is the type to blast sound on shitty TV speakers and don't care about general quality of their games.

The real question is why would anyone build a pc anymore instead of buying a console that costs half as much to run the same games?
You have to upgrade graphics card at the same rate as console upgrades
The online costs break even with the startup cost of a pc in that time frame assuming you even play online
Managing a OS, drivers, and setting up steam big picture is always going to be a bigger pita than a console despite the cope
Console has really good digital sales these days and disks can be had for cheap for older games
Personally, I've never seen any steam exclusive worth playing it all looks like fotm slop
