Today I thought up an easily codable and set-uppable method of heavily incentivizing my players with engaging with a certain system without failing to do so resulting in a game over, by making the consequences of having not engaged with it a chore to deal with.
Incentive to even do any of that at all will be gameplay that requires and rewards genuine intelligence and attention and a very rewarding gameplay curve the further they go with a VERY rich narrative that hooks you.

Is the standard approach for animating with props and extra items to "store" them shrunk down inside the characters model until they're needed in the animation?
Or is there some way to properly sync location information and animations between separate characters to then be used at run time in engine for placing and playing back animations across multiple characters?

Found out how to improve my state machines that made my code a lot more efficient by using functions as states. Made my code for certain stuff go from unreadable to like, 1 or 2 lines.
Randomly checking up videos by some pakistani programmers really helps sometimes.
Pretty much the only thing that worries me now is just animations and music, since my game is 2D and not pixel art I'll probably just have to be smart about what I can do animation wise. Music I have no idea though.
Might just contact a guy on youtube who's music I like. Small channel but really like his musical vibe. But not until I'm further in.

made this "puzzle" segment where you need to spit water on lava-generators to make them water-generators (box collisions for now). making good puzzles is hard so i wont do this often

Figured out how to do multithreaded loading in Godot 3 so I can load in other parts of a level while walking through tunnels without pausing the game. I never realized till now how utterly limited you are in level design if you don't use multi-threaded loading.

added a lil dialog popup. as my last project didnt have enough characterization/conversations, i'm thinking this will be a fun thing to work on. gonna have a floating popup for marking which things are interactable, then gonna design a room or two.

coded in the collision for the wall/sprites, bullet travel to direction of the mouse and drew the idle sprites for both the player and the enemy. trying to hype myself up so I can draw multiple sprites with other guns but it gets damn repetitive quickly. probably post back here six hours from now if thread is still up, gotta make this function proper before making it look pretty. 1#

i kinda want to make a TCG game, but i have no clue how i would make an opponent AI that would be able to understand how to play well.
it doesn't help that "AI" has ruined the ability to search for helpful material on the subject since most results now are just "how to generate cards using AI" "using AI to help design a TCG" "creating an entire TCG with AI in 2 hours" ect. ect.
