The franchise is on sale on Steam atm. Which game should I buy? FF13 caught my eye because the MC is cute and doesn't seem trapped in a hetslop plot. But people say the story is lore heavy and hard to follow. I don't really care about lore and would like a character-driven story, preferably focusing on the girls.

If we were to hypothetically make a list of the FF yuri couples that are "the most goggleable", would /u/ agree that Faris/Lenna, Yuna/Rikku and Lightning/Serah would all be in the top 10 at least? Another yuri incest in Final Fantasy, the Shiva Sisters from FFXIII. They trib each other and combine into a bike, but unfortunately there aren't many Final Fantasy fans interested in making fanworks about it. Been looking into FFVI and how to mod it for rewrites. It's definitely doable. But playing through the game, it's just so het... Celes/Locke is annoyingly pushed, while Terra has like no interactions with anyone. So I'm surprised Terra/Celes is a ship at all.This will require basically a full rewrite, not just some tweaks like I had hoped.

At last I've found the Aerti thread!I've been playing through the series recently and finally completed IV, my childhood introduction to the series. I was looking at the Pixel Remaster's gallery at the Amano art, my GF came in, saw Cecil and said she didn't know Final Fantasy had a beautiful woman protagonist on the SNES.I've never been able to look at Cecil the same way since. So I guess I'm an accidental R63 Cecil x Rosa shipper now.

On the subject of ROM hacks, it might be common knowledge around here but just in case, there is a FF4 hack that replaces Cecil and Rosa with Celes and Terra, it also changes Kain, Golbez and Yang into original female characters (afaik anyway, i know Yang's sprite is just Monk Lenna from FFV with a tan, but she's called Meilin and i don't recognize the other). Unfortunately Edge just becomes a random moogle, if they were at this anyway they might as well have made him into Relm or Maria, but anyway: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/46/

I figure if you are gonna do a Celes/Terra mod - you make it so Celes defects sooner (Terra getting the Slave crown used on her as impetus) and never gets captured. Terra is literally the only other female that is around Celes age in that city with a name so you can easily justify them interacting far more and having some history than the base game had - there is no reason they shouldn't be close friends. Granted this is way more work than most people would do. So I had an idea of making it so you start in the WoR to begin with and re-tell edited bits of the game via flashback at various points. My thought was Celes doesn't leave the island via the raft - instead after trying to commit suicide the Shiva esper in her inventory fully merges with her - effectively giving her a Morph of sorts like Terra. She just flies over to land instead. Now instead of sticking fully to the airship storyline afterwards - it turns out the airship is busted and needs replacement parts still in order to fly. Queue Celes going back to recruit Terra and both flying around the world 'Alone Together' and occasionally working with local party members to explore various ruins to collect parts to eventually fix the airship. More room for romance this way since the rest of the cast is a sausage fest.
