It's a gradual process to slide entertainment towards procedurally generated one.The first step was moving to digital, which opened more options for digital manipulation of footage, greenscreen sets, non-linear editing and so on.
Second step was the writers' strike which allowed studios to purge from their ranks the headstrong "auteurs". The only people left after that step were corporate clout chasing yesmen that listen to orders and produce stuff on demand through simple paint-by-numbers scripts with low risk and high formulaity.
The next step was the woke phase where marketing divisions took over the decisionmaking. Everything started being dictated by social media metrics. Who gets cast, what topics are injected and pushed, what is avoided, "safe" narratives, etc... this also coincided with streaming being predominant form of how to reach people.Now we're at the phase where AI will gradually replace VFX, then everything else. Why bother with any industry people whatsoever when the entire movie can eventually be "prompted" by a small team based on metrics collected from audience approval etc.. tailor made streaming entertainment.

In a few years, movies that are made without AI and with ‘real human-made CGI’ are going to use that as unique selling point, like movies with practical effects are nowadays.
There’s granulation in AI use though. You can have regular CGI and do colour grading by AI, or only use AI for textures of 3D models while animating the models manually, to generating entire scenes by AI. Where do people draw the line to the amount of AI they find acceptable?
