AF1 saved edition
>Last Thread: >>2904031 [/trv/thread/2904031#p2904031]
>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.
General Rules:
1. Talk about Theme Parks and/or Rollercoasters.
2. There is no second rule.

>On a scale of 1 to based, how did you like Monsters Unchained?
zero because the fucker was down the whole day we were there.>How long did you end up waiting for Battle at the Ministry?
line was down to 90 minutes, we ran over and got in the single rider line and flew through in like 20 minutes. really lucked out on that one, we did the single rider line for Donkey Kong and it was close to two hours long.>Did you eat any sweets in the park?
not as much as we could have, just some ice cream to cool off.im sure its been mentioned before but Epic Universe has a big issue with a lack of shade. its a new park so the trees have not grown up yet like at Islands of Adventure so you spend a lot of time shuffling across boiling hot open walkways with no shade until you get to the rides. they are trying to correct this by adding folding umbrellas and awnings everywhere but they were in dumb locations and didnt provide shade in obvious seating areas like benches and around food joints.

Man, HHN is weird this year. Usually heading to the back of the park at opening is the right move, but with Sinners being back there and no huge IP up front, a big chunk of the crowds are heading there first. I still got every house done, but it wasn't as smooth as I expected. I'm gonna try starting with the front houses tomorrow.

Surveys are going out for Six Flags potential ride additions.
Notable is a option is a coaster that matches the stats of Aireforce One
This option has been seen at three parks so far: King’s Island, Great Adventure, and Great America. Great America already has an RMC so that is not a realistic option, so the likely finalists as of now for Aireforce One are Kings Island and Great Adventure
Still waiting on Carowinds which is the one of most rumored locations if it appears on their survey

thoughts on spending a week at Universal Florida is better than WDW? I think currently its right. WDW is only better for food because you got the many hotels with good restaurants.Once Tropical Americas, Piston Peaks, Monsters Inc, Villainsland is finished it should be different but that is 5 years from now and we know nothing on the plans Universal will have in that time

HHN house reviews
>10) Sinners
Easily the worst house this year. The movie just does not translate well into a house. Scares are weak, monsters are lame, and the set-design is boring. Maybe there's some value for big fans, but it is not worth the wait times it pulls.
>9) Evil Dead
Not a bad house, just kind of bland. Almost every jumpscare is just a normal human and the sets are mostly just rooms in a house. The actors at least sell their roles and there are some neat animatronics.
>8) Aliens
I wanted to love this house, but it was a disappointment. Similar to Evil Dead in that it takes place in a normal house, but at least the monsters are more fun. Too many screens distract from the scares, and it feels really short. The shootout scene is fun though.
>7) Stranger Things
Better than expected but suffers from unmemorable scenes and normal human characters. It's saved by having some clever scares and very high-energy performances from the demogorgan actors. They felt way more aggressive than usual for HHN, which was awesome. Also, the Nancy actress was cocking her assault rifle like a fucking shotgun which was hilarious.
>6) H.R. Bloodengutz
The year's designated fun house. As such, it is the least scary. There are some good, humorous scenes in here, and Bloodengutz himself is a fun character. The biggest issue is that each scene is very short and actors only have one chance to scare you, unlike other houses where they usually have multiple boo holes. Thus, if you miss a scare, you basically miss the entire scene.
>5) Ozzy Osbourne
Awesome set design and, of course, a nice soundtrack. A good tribute to Ozzy and a lot of people's favorite. However, I found the scares a bit lacking compared to the other high-ranking houses and the house felt short. The Crazy Train section is a highlight of the event.

Did Kynren on the final day of the season of its first. historical park where see 4 shows during the day then there's a big show in the evening. The daytime shows are mostly a bit mediocre to bad:A viking show that's a bit closer show than the rest set in a smaller enclosed arena. Some neat fire effects but mostly bad fake fighting and a comically sudden ending.A jousting show with a story that doesn't make sense and a final jousting tournement that's a bit of a mess (you see some target hitting, some random joust matches with no commentary and then told that the main character had won for some reason)A show with a Water area where you thought you were in for a treat. Unfortunately it was pretty awful. There's a story about rescuing a local bishop that makes no sense and isn't tied to anything you see. actual story is about locals angering a witch that summons a serpent to attack... only you can't see the serpent, I think it very briefly pops out of the water on the far right of the arena almost completely out of view for 90% of the arena. All you get is 10 minutes of people randomly falling into the water whilst some fountains spray (then the witch takes center stage for more bad fake fighting). Then suddently for no reason everyone is friends. And the bishop turns up to briefly mention his involvement with a war of succession (I guess shoehorning in some local history badly).A bird show in an awesome birds nest stage. This one was good, really enjoyed it (but I like bird displays). Big variety of birds and they get them to fly all around the arena so you get close up views (and 'near misses') for most of the birds. It's between an 60-90 minutes between show and a 3 hour gap for the final show. There's very little to do during then. The food places are mediocre and there aren't enough of them (hour+ long queue in the food court for the evening show). I think they expect you to do the dinner show in the 3 hour gap but... it's expensive and sold out

A good comparison imo for construction will be whatever the new Lost Continent area will be with Piston Peak. Both similar in footprint, 5-7 acres. Both will be heavily themed and not just a couple rides but retail and hospitality. Also the rides will be catered to families (I can’t see IOA adding more thrill rides) Piston Peak is for a 2028/2029 opening. I’d bet Lost Continent replacement opening is then as well

I have to apologize a little to Cosmic Rewind fans. I had ridden it once and didn't get the hype of some people calling it their favorite coaster. In fact I was pretty strongly against the ride because I am a theme snob and I dislike the screens and "dark room with LED stars" theme, not to mention the ugly gravity box.
But I rode it a couple more times this week and I don't know what has changed for me but I softened up on it a lot. I think the first time I was let down by the theming so I didn't care about the coaster itself, but now that I knew what to expect I realized the coaster is pretty good.
I'm not a thoosie because I'm a coward (still too nervous to ride Rock n Rollercoaster) so I don't really have the experience to comment on it or compare to other rides, but to me it feels smooth and the momentum getting thrown around from one part to the next feels well planned.
