To make a long story short, I am a complete failire in life, I cannot hold a job and dropped out of post secondary school multiple times. I'm suicidally depressed and don't know wtf I am gonna do with my life except for the fact that I've wanted to travel since I was about 16 or so
I have 10 000 CAD in my account, can I get travel tips and advice on how to extend for as long as I can? Things like eating sleeping, hitchhiking, making money in a foreign country etc... safety tips appreciated too, although I don't give a fuck anymore if something happens to me
I want to go to Asia and Europe. I want hit as many places on my list as I can, I want to go to America, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Thailand, Japan and maybe a few other places I have in mind
Also, I'm 21 but I live with my parents who are very overprotective idrk what to say to them about this knowing they will absolutely hate it and will get super scared if I just leave unannounced

Hitchhike, camp, buy food at the grocers. My best travels were where I had my tent and I travelled as far as I liked and just set up my tent at nightfall.

First you need a passport. Do you have one? Then you need to check entrance requirements for the countries you want to travel to.

Well you should, dumbass, because newbie drunken carelessness is how you're gonna lose your stack of cash. Travel is not like moping at home; you always need to be alert and paying attention to your surroundings, if only to smile and say hi to the hostel girl who keeps looking at you. Once you get the showering, clothes changing and tooth brushing routine down - surely you're not so retarded that you can't do this - stop thinking about yourself and focus on what's around you. Some roundtrip flights cost basically the same as a one-way. Use skyscanner to see where you can go for cheap from the nearest large airports accessible by train/bus from where you live. Pick "Everywhere" and "Flexible dates". I just bought a roundtrip to Costa Rica for $310. Three weeks. It's a safe country if you're poor; richfags are always getting their shit stolen there. Shortly afterwards I have an ultra-cheap one way flight to Peru, which is where I will start my six month South America trip. Gotta buy a last minute refundable ticket to get into Peru, then cancel after arrival...very common requirement to enter countries.

In the nicest way possible: you are a retard. I thought the exact same thing at 21. I stopped being a retard at 23 and can travel (as much as time off allows) at 29. Bitter pill to swallow is that you need to grow up. You have my sympathies being stuck in Canada though.

Well being a new traveller is a steep learning curve, I would go with a group.
A lot of new travellers choose Asia because while unfamiliar, there are so many tourists there and it's so cheap that it's a good place to miss flights, lose hotel deposits etc.Organise airport pick up with a hotel and just spend two days there when you land to get your bearings.
Take a plan B bag with a cheap mobile, $200 in local currency, photocopies of your documents and important phone numbers, personal medication. This is mostly so you don't have to worry about things, like a teddy bear, no shame in it, you'll see 20 first time travellers freaking out because they lost their own phone, medication, hard cash etc. Help them if you like.Strong word on changing money, these days you just get Card with its own account, low withdrawal fee and fixed percentage exchange rates. This is your primary card. Use only Visa ATMs.
People used to use the Shwab card, doubtless there are others. Don't use your phone as a credit card, don't even have that enabled. I actually don't even take my personal mobile overseas. I'll need it when I get back, it's not worth losing, it's also sort of but worth having, it's just another expensive thing you can lose.Take a polaroid. Great fun, good way to meet people, worthless, instant record of anything you actually need to record. It's not dumb to photograph your flight tickets or admission tickets or visas. Unlike your phone, you can give this worthless photo to any petty local official, and they can check manually.Health? Condoms. You'll be meeting s lot of attractive young people you'll never see again. Anti diorea pills, minor food poisoning isn't an emergency, just an inconvenience. Water purification tabs are easier to carry then 25 plastic water bottles. I would stick to bottled water, but it's not like... life or death. If you have to shake up an aquatab in some dubious bottle from a trail shop so be it.

Why don't you do a working holiday visa? Instead of being miserable in a hostel in Thailand why don't you go do some work at a hostel/bar/ski resort, meet people, and gain some life experience?
