Is the classic American road trip dead? It sure seems like interstates take you through a homogenized version of the US.

try appalachia plenty of places where you can drive for hours without touching an interstate you can drive along old forgotten turnpikes and indian trails dating back thousands of yearsalso breezeport IS appalachia, once you get north of the turnpike/76 its quite nice and apart from 80 there's no highways in northern pa just 99 which is not really an interstate past state college

Small towns and shit are mostly dying, yeah... it's kinda depressing at least here down south. Clearly towns that used to mean something to people, left to rot.No sense of community, no industry, tons of land being bought by private equity, just slow quiet death. This isn't meant to be political but our leaders have done us wrong.

If you’re trying to get across the country as fast as possible than yes but if you’re actually going to take the time to see things than no.

I'm a trucker, my workplace is these places. Once you cross the Mississippi you're Gucci. The West is the Best (until you reach California wet of the mountains)

Have you tried rubbing some brain cells together and plotting a route NOT using the interstate?

McDonald's, Chick fil-a, waffle house, etc. and truck stops are far more representative of country culture than some hipster local woman owned (TM) mom and pop establishment
