How do y'all feel about the new trend of gouging tourists on admission fees?
$35 to walk up a tower and they make you pay $9 more for an audioguide that doesn't work
$35 to walk inside the Hagia Sophia when most of it's closed off and 2 years ago it was free

globalized mass tourism
everything is due to mass tourismif #tourist < max capacity there usually is no fee (unless it's something staff intensive)
but tourism increased everywhere so they increased the feesthe worst offenders are Turkey, Croatia and Italy in general
also Switzerland, but only because everything is expensive therethe alternative to high prices isn't that much better
then they restrict tickets and make you reserve your spot 5 months in advance
or fight for a ticket during the first 5min of opening sales at exactly midnight 2 weeks in advance so cannot plan anything properly
happens to a lot of popular historic sites in Europe or China
in China at least you can sometimes get around this by playing the dumb tourist who can't use WeChat to reserve tickets

i apprecaite it. was there a motnh ago.ofc they should tax and punish annoying whities to check out their sacred temple. if westerners are willing to pay $35 then thats the optimized price to set it at and their own people muzzies are optimally subsidized
