After this year of living in Asia(going on 10 years from 24->34), looking to buy a house+car somewhere in Texas or Georgia which the houses I've seen add up to 170k total or ~2 years my saved salary. Property taxes seem to be <1500/yr, utilities aren't that bad, and I'll see how it goes. Have a few friends in the south so might be able to lease a room out.>inb4 NO WHITE WOMEN Every time I go to the south(work requires I go back here and there once a year for training/company planning) it's never a problem, if anything it's easier than the slob shit you get in LA/NYC/FL; where my 110k/yr doesn't turn any heads but in the south I can go to the more upper class stuff an filter out the undesirables. >UH BROWN PPL I always find this argument to be used by poorfags who try and tell themselves they aren't poorfags and simply don't have a grasp on socializing. Southerners are nice af and the food is down home faire. It'll make you huge but it's fantastically good because it's just meat and salt and fat. Southern cooking is unironically directly drawn from Escoffier's vision of cuisine and one of the last pure examples of it's evolution.

As someone who's been to taco hell abroad, specifically in Europe I can understand why he likes the US one probably more. The ones in Finland and the 2 I visited in other parts of europe just suck. The meat is barely there, the presentation is better hands down the the portions are fucked. Got three tacos? enjoy 3 MILD (hehe living dangerously!!) packets of sauce! A soda too no refills.Dude probably walked into a taco bell, was friendly(important) and got a bit extra, followed up by any amount of sauce you want, then the kicker of ability to REFILL soda for FREE AND WITH ICE. I still don't get why at the very least fast food places in the EU don't at LEAST have cold water or water+ICE.

Grew up in the south, and upon moving to a northern state for college I was flabbergasted by how much less congenial everyone was. It wasn't so much that everyone was rude, they just weren't warm. But growing up, I was used to genuinely warm and friendly people.I remember it really sunk in when I had a flat tire on the side of the highway, and the weather is shitty and it's taking me a lot longer than it should have to put on the spare. I realized in that moment that every other time in my life I'd had car trouble, someone had stopped and helped me. Usually some older dude who just saw someone having a bad day and wanted to help them out.Suffice to say I did eventually move back.

Idk about the South because I've never been, but I've been to the US a few times as an European for work, always east coast and midwest/appalachia. It's not the worst place I've been to, but I dislike it for several different reasons >plenty of poverty in full display, both in urban and in rural areas >architecture tends to be either really ugly or really boring (there are exceptions though) >stupidly expensive, especially hotels, also eating out >cities with good public transport are few, no real HSR to speak of to move between cities, you just need a car to go most places On the flipside American people do tend to be usually pleasant to interact with, but I always struggled to tell whether they were being nice because they are nice or because it's some kind of acted script. I noticed Americans do tend to "act" when in public settings, it's hard to describe, but I'll give an example: >in my country, when person is tired, they'll usually say "I'm tired, I'll go to sleep" and go to sleep >in the US, when a person is tired, they'll do a stretch-yawn combo like actors do in movies to signal that a character is tired, then they'll proclaim "wow, it's getting late. I should definitely go to sleep" and then go to sleep I noticed stuff like that in every interaction, both with servers at restaurants and with regular people and colleagues I interacted with. There are positive sides to the US, but it's not a place I'd ever visit for fun I think

They're good to visit, but they suck to live. The South is basically a wasteland of rural poverty and nigga moments between the Texas Triangle and the I-85 corridor that includes Atlanta and the Research Triangle.New Orleans is the epitome of this. Really cool to visit. Really awful to live with low pay, crime, and crumbling infrastructure. And it's not even the worst city to live in its own state.
