Montevideo, Uruguay seems like it has relatively low crime. Little high price but that keeps the riff raff away, right? Anyone who can tell me more about Uruguay's capital city?

Good people, good food, BORING. I recommend you to go in a 2/3-day trip from Buenos Aires and that's it.

It's not actually any safer than Argentina these days, I guess it's a bit more financially stable if you really need that.

It's mostly distance, "boring" culture and not being dirt cheap that keeps casual tourists and passport bro riff raff away, but most of that applies to Argentina as well. If you mean the riff raff from LATAM, well the Uruguayan government shows solidarity with it's socialist brothers and invites any deadbeat Venezuelans or Cubans that want to come. I guess some people like the very chill/boring vibe, do what says and see if it's for you.

Plenty of the world's pricier cities are full of criminals. Montevideo definitely has a lot of crime, though when a place is so boring you probably won't be out drinking and carousing. So it won't affect you. Overall Uruguay does seem one of the best-developed and consistently functional countries in South America. But it's like Kansas with a coastline. What is there to see in Uruguay? Nothing, really
