Manila in general is just fucking gross. Most of Makati is disgusting, but at least it’s fairly cheap and you can walk around. BGC is like any big western city, clean, safe, expensive. If you go to makati get an Airbnb for a couple nights at Gramercy. Then negotiate with the host for a reduced rate off for cash. I got about 20% off per night a few times. You’ve got a mall next door, a hospital, a grocery store, good restaurants, etc. If it’s just too disgusting for you (the smell of rotting garbage permeates everything), then go to BGC and be ready to pay western prices.
