It's a city of 13 million. So yes, Moscow is a megacity. There is always the chance of politics landing on your head at some point during your visit. Ukraine drone-struck an intercity passenger train recently.

Russia is a multicultural and multiethnic nation of all race and takes tons of immigrants. Russia is more akin to Brazil or the USA than Europe. So when you see an Islamic ethnic Uzbek or a Chechen praying at a mosque in Moscow, you should be aware those are Russian people.

I had a blast in Moscow, 1 of my all time favorite trips. It was awfully long ago though. Before Putin and his retarded war. Russian people are arrogant and none of them speak English. That's just something to remember.

I've never met a single Russian person that I've ever liked. They're humorless, grumpy and boring. They're also dishonest and scammy. A Russian millionaire would steal $5 from your wallet when you weren't looking. The food is as bad as people say. The weather is terrible. And there's nothing to see in any Russian city that's better than anywhere else in Europe. The violent crime is also really bad compared to the rest of Europe. But Red Square is fun for about 30 minutes.

I found it interesting enough for a short stay, but nothing to set it above other european capitals I've visited. The people were generally very surly, but it was winter at the time, very cold and dark. The traffic smog in some areas was pretty nasty too.
