Can't believe there isn't a general about Nam already, even though everyone and their mother is going there.
I myself did Saigon, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hanoi, and the Ha Giang Loop earlier this year. Can highly recommend all of it.

Why are Vietnam lovers always so vague about their experiences?
>I highly recommend
>The country is great
>It was a lot of fun
Is Vietnam the new "babby's first extended trip overseas" destination? Because everyone who goes there sure as hell talks like it was the first time they've ever done this kind of thing. They have no frame of reference to compare it to, so they are unable to voice any meaningful compliments or critiques regarding the country.

What is your favorite spot to walk around in Saigon? A tourist guide recommended Nguyen Hue Walking Street and it is worse than walking in the Californian summer

HCMC vs Bangkok?
I wanted to do the digital nomad thing from Bangkok but need to get a TEFL job while I figure out how to best make money online, and it looks like teaching in Vietnam is better for me as there's more demand and hours are lower, while still being able to earn enough to live and save a bit
I assumed BKK would mog HCMC and it still does in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness etc, but I was surprised at how much there is in HCMC that interests me. There's definitely enough there for me to build a life for myself if I wanted to
Anyone lived in both?

Good for you learning the language but when you're actually proficient the locals will stop complimenting you. Until then hold that shit closer to your chest. You'll look back on this phase of your expat life and cringe.

I'm back in Thailand after a short trip to Da Nang with my gf. We both got explosive traveler's diarrhea from something but not sure what exactly. Could have been from microbes on the ice, from Vietnamese food, seafood buffet, or the delicious burgers we had. We didn't have this problem when we visited Hanoi last year.

thinking about spending a month or two in vn when I inevitably get laid off for dicking around not working all day. between this and batumi. if I assume good will from others and start with good will to others, will I be ok? not going begpacking or anything, have plenty of money stashed, but just generally as a guy who doesn't speak the language and would translate with my phone

I was in Hanoi already for three days. I'm considering visiting the south too. I'm an alcoholic that loves to drink and dance, but feel like I might just be treated like a white monkey and ignored without being able to make friends to have a good time with.

Thinking about a week in HCMC at the end of this month or early next month. Not interested in World Heritage shit or old towns, had my fill of that in Chiang Mai and was ready to dive in front of a taxi by day 2. Just want good food, decent nightlife, and a nice big hotel room where I can bring back a different girl every night. Is HCMC the right place for that or should I go to Phuket again?

Here now, my experience so far as an autistic chud:
>So hot to even do anything or go outside during the day. I volunteered at hostel and working and putting in effort in this weather is horrendous.
>matched with more girls here than I ever did back home (USA) but they all seemed to be scammers :(
>cashiers like to give u the incorrect amount. Also 4 dollar atm fees gay as fuck
>it feels good to accomplish small victories like finding something tasty to eat or making it to a destination on my own but it's oh so lonely
>hanoi rained the whole time, like only one lit street (beer street) but it's all tourists, no interactions except shady guys hassling me for happy endings.
>ha giang loop was really cool, shit looked like Minecraft amplified world type
>As far as locals go, i've mostly talked with older folks and aunties because it's easier and they're very hospitable. I love free beer, happy water, food :)
>everyone here is fucking tiny. Never felt so tall in my life, kinda nice. Except when I clubbing in beer street then it's tourists towering over me all over again.
>the locals love my dimples, but its only men that say I'm handsome or a worker girl when I'm buying shit. Currently in a rural part so not many foids around, but pretty girls make me nervous. I use Google Translate and they make fun of me xd so do other tourists they call me a baby and coward. I think it's because I'm a shy little baka, but off the happy water I go crazy on the karaoke.
>my parents straight up told me not to come home and I'm not allowed. Either stay here or travel somewhere else. If I get low on money they will bail me out. What should I do anons? I been hiding in my hostel a lot. I spend most of the time just sitting and thinking. I was considering Ninh binh, someone told me I need it. Sapa too possibly. If I can cultivate Nietzschean vitality and amor fati within myself I will go full degen mode to Thailand for ladyboys or Philippines for real girls.
