There's something kino and mystifying about the idea of antipodes - places which are on opposite sides of the world from each other.
It's interesting how most land lines up with sea on the other side, and vice versa. More spooky is the fact that 2 huge mantle plumes lay directlyopposite each other. Under the Marshall/Mariana islands is the oldest 'land' on the planet, the 'engine' of Pacific geology lies opposite the African plume which has created the Ethiopian Plateau/Danakil, and gives birth to the Nile, Congo, the Rift Valley, the Red Sea, etc).
Have you ever been to 2 opposite sides? It's a dream of mine to head to New Zealand and feel as if I've "done it", and gone all the way around the world.
