So I've been in South Korea for a month and half now. I had a good time, it's time to leave but sadly I missed my plane to China, so I've been depressed and drinking a lot in Incheon, but that's my own fault, not the fault of the country.I really like Seoul. Indeed, for sightseeing there isn't much, but I like how every district is distinct from each other.
Itaewon is somewhat trendy and full of foreigners, has food from every part of the world, Turkish, Uzbek, Russian, African...
Hongdae is the same but more degenerate, there is always some crazy shit happening at night, and a lot of indie rock concerts.Speaking of concerts, one thing I dislike is that they are rather expensive compared to Europe, it's always between 30k and 50k won for local bands, and I don't understand their reservation system, but at least Korean indie bands are pretty good.
Also in Seoul, people don't dance, which is actually an opportunity to get noticed as the crazy foreigner, I befriended a musician that way. In Busan, people are more relaxed and dance. Then regarding districts, once you get tired of these two, it's time to go to the ones with actual Koreans.
I love Dongmyo, there is plenty of stuff to buy at the flea market, you can feel people are poorer, but it's not dangerous at all, it feels more real.
Not far away, there is Gwangjang Market if you want to try weird food like grilled pork uterus. Then there are all the famous attractions nearby. I only visited the Changdeok Palace, which is nice but I thought it was kinda disappointing.
The Seoul Tower is also just a mall basically, but what is nice about it is the Namsan park, to get lost there and get a respite from the city life.
If you have a gf, you need to bring her to Seongsu, it's has a lot of trendy cafés, art galleries and a little forest, it's hip but rather calm and relaxing.
