Got a new upstairs neighbor in my マンション, could hear them moving in all day yesterday. Didn't manage to get a look at them when I went out to do my grocery shopping. Landing in Tokyo Haneda almost made me sick. Hordes of ameriblobs and hispandex creatures in line for immigration, reminded me of Disney World with how the line looked. i feel utterly trapped in Osaka. Fuck public transit. I don't care how ubiquitous, cheap or efficient it is, trains, subways, and taxis will never beat a good old personal vehicle. I am suffocating in this fucking apartment. Feels like I can't do anything because all the cool shit is more than 30 minutes away. And I think I would would rather squat down, shit on either hand and then clap really hard than navigate the train system regularly to get around in this country. But the thing is, would buying a vehicle just be a monumental waste of money on a student visa?

/k/ here. What are the go-to museums if you're into military crap and you happen to be in Japan? From what I see everything is insanely scattered, small and weirdly JSDF-focused. There's anything worthwile or I should simply consider that the Japs don't like their cutting implements and guns an' WW2 history and shit?
(I've heard about the Yūshūkan, is that the biggest /k/ related thing they have there?)

Going in 6 weeks. Really excited about it, if more than a little nervous about how my language skills will hold me back. I'm definitely going to see the Kodokan and Tokyo Grand Slam. Since I have two weeks, my friend suggested doing something a little crazy - a short round trip to Sapporo, a day in Osaka or Kyoto and a bus back to Tokyo over the second week. I'm not sure I want to spend that much time in planes and trains, but Sapporo seems really cool.

There's your problem bud. It's a shit city. I was bored as fuck there as well. Tokyo and Fukuoka are more fun. Tokyo just has way more stuff to do and it's cleaner. There's zero reason to go to Osaka other than seeing the sights. Tokyo is just a better city in general.

How long minimum to spend in Japan? I have unlimited time (well, within regulations) but not unlimited money. I was thinking about 3.5 weeks before I realised I could do that with a job even if I would burn up quite a bunch of vacation time. I'm trying to stretch it to 30 days or more also because I'm realising it could end up feeling rushed, but money will be tight. I'll probably end up with a bit more than 1M ¥ to spend on everything by the time I go (not counting the flight), but that would pretty much empty my bank account and I would rather not go that deep.
In general I'd probably want to start out in Kansai, maybe go on a quick stretch to Hiroshima/Miyajima, and otherwise head from Ise up through Gifu to Kanazawa, to mostly cut East to Nikko, then heading down South on the outside of Tokyo to Hakone/Mt. Fuji finally into Tokyo proper which is around where I'd spend the rest. I actually just remembered I drew up a shitty itinerary for a friend but noticed I didn't take Matsumoto into account so maybe there's a curve there (and small curves for cool shit along the way, taking recs to make the most of the in-between part).First trip by the way (and I don't think I'm making it back anytime soon so every bit of minmaxing counts).
I might have gotten too detailed so to get to the point/tl;dr
How long can you stretch 1M Yen for while having an alright time?
