Cubabro: A Cebu guide for normies>Things to do, places to see1A. One would surely want to visit downtown Cebu. Colon street is the oldest "street" in all the "Philippines", and in the immediate vicinity their is also the plaza independencia, Fort San Pedro, and the Santo Nino church complex. It's the "cultural heart" of Cebu, and the place with the most historical significance.1B. Not far from downtown Cebu are 2 very old ancestral houses, the Yap-San Diego house, and the Casa Gorodo house. You can gain some insight about life in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era, and they regularly have cultural shoes there.1C. In the hills to the north of the city, there is a nice botanical garden (sirao), and several nice "temples", 1 Taoist and 1 dedicated to some rich Filipina bitch, and a nice overlook area called Tops, which presents a wonderful vista of the city. Tops is best visited during the sunset.1C. Theirs tons of places to drink and get debaucherous I'm Cebu. Mango Avenue is the best known....it's pretty raw, with an eclectic mix of KTV/hooker bars, sports bars, and nightclubs....but expect a younger crowd and lots of unscrupulous characters looming around the bars. Club Icon, near Ayala, is the best known nightclub in the city, with a mixed bag of foreigners, locals, ladyboy hookers, and all other sorts of characters. Club Aqua is a sweatbox attached to the waterfront hotel, mainly attracting a younger crowd. The 88th avenue complex attracts a bit more "mature" or "wealthy crowd". The rooftop bar in the Seda hotel in IT park is a nice hotel lounge with a classy vibe. M02 restobar is a local spot, attracting a slightly more mature crowd, but still somewhat youthful and fun. Places are constantly opening ana closing, perhaps it's best to check with your hotel concierge for the best up to date information, as this may be outdated by the time you read this.
