have had defense of the heart in my deck for a year and everytime i play it everyone shits their pants over it but ive only ever gotten low cmc silver bullet creatures off of it, never had a big fuckoff value dude to grab with it. deckbuilding error most certainly, putting at least nyxbloom ancient in the deck now. i would consider putting a two card creature combo in but i dont think it's really what the deck wants.

What's some blue/black goodstuff for a Royal Kidnapper deck if I'm *not* going all in on stealing as many of my opponents creatures as possible, but just want to make a deck thats disruptive and annoying at a 4 person table? Winning is nice if it happens, but the real goal is to just make shit happen that screws with other people's plans in interesting ways.So far I have a decent amount of Goading and other stuff that forces opponents to attack, combat tricks like Observed Stasis and Sudden Spoiling, and creatures and effects that bounce between controllers like Kain and Assault Suit.

It seems like a cute idea, but I just don't see why someone would attack a battle card instead of the opponent's life points directly if only the person who cast the battle in the first place gets anything when it dies.

i think the problem is to effectively cram enough removal into a deck you either need to have highly efficient draw engines, a well supported theme that naturally has removal attached to pieces, or a really generic or compact thing that your deck does.

Thinking of throwing together this guy with living weapon mechanics cards and having a flicker subtheme. Obviously the best ones are the cheap For Mirrodin pieces, as you get a 2/2 token out of it each time. Are there any obvious mass flicker for equip synergies I'm missing? I've got >Silver Surfer >Nahiri's Resolve >Hide on the Ceiling >Brago I could obviously slot in Displacer Kitten, but he's such a slop card. And the second you run any sort of Urza-adjacent effect in the deck you're bound to go infinite even on accident.

How do I train my threat assessment and learn when to pull the trigger on a wincon? Obviously play more but I play tons and these are my glaring weak points. I usually get my wins through bullshit and manipulation, not letting them see how completely lost in the board state I am. I want to be a good player on a technical level.
