Funny how TC manages to be less grounded than even 40K

It would be more fun if they weren't trying to be so serious about it. 40k tried to become serious and all it did was become boring.

He's broken every other promise he's made, he probably is an edgy 14 year old on stilts.

>the importance of hope for effective grimdark stories I thought there weren't any good guys? What is there to hope for if everyone is evil?

Dark fantasy stories can be serious, like Salammbo for example. That being said I doubt Graham McNeill of all people has the level of talent required to pull it off. If you read the article he basically says "oh it's grimdark but we wanna explore all kinds of emotions too" but doesn't give a single example of how that works in the trench crusade setting or anything. https://www.wargamer.com/trench-crusade/graham-mcneill-grimdark

Frankly, TC is way more 14-year-old edgelord than 40k is or almost ever was.

Tbh going "ALL GRIMDARK ALL THE TIME!" can very easily turn into self-parody, or cause people to question why they should care about the setting when everything is fucked forever and every faction consists entirely of baby-eating rapists. Even 40k has novels with characters that aren't assholes and actually score victories, even if in the grand scheme of things the galaxy is still fucked in the long run.

>"None of us are edgy 14 year olds" That's some real "not like the other girls" but for wargames. What even counts as edgy these days if Trench Crusade isn't edgy for 14 year olds with it's aesthetics?

Seems reasonable I guess, what's the issue?

I still have no interest in this game. It just seems like 40k, but with the humor and and occasional realistic military strategy to balance it out that peak 40k had.

but what does TC actually have beyond grimslop vibes? It doesn't have any interesting to say about religion, faith, occultism, the crusades, world war 1 or any other subject that it's ripping off
