How did the WoW aesthetic ever become popular in wargames, even for a moment?

I know it may be hard for you to believe, since you hadn't been born yet, but there was a time when the WoW aesthetic was popular.
There was also a time when it was considered the "in" thing to complain about it. Was because it's fucking 2026 and most people just don't care anymore.

What makes something "WOW aesthetic" really? I always thought Warcraft's older art was cool anyways so I'm not sure what is insulting about it.

Well, as you may remember, WoW itself was kinda popular there for a while.

The WoW aesthetic is highly distinctive and easy to determine features from a distance. It's actually much better for a wargame than for an MMORPG, as long as you don't mind the aesthetic being a little cartoon-y (which history suggests people don't).

>WoW aesthetic
Way back when, we called it pauldroncore, and the progenitor was none other than 40k.
