Anyone played Liminal Horror or read the modules? Seems high effort (liberal memeplex aside) in the module department though the rules are some PBTA adjacent thing and I wouldn't run it without said modules.

It's interesting to see how 'archaic' the wording and sentence structure is compared to modern fiction. I don't understand the layout of the different rooms. I thought they were different rooms but people in the party walk through several of them as if they're like a furiniture show room with no walls? I dunno it was weird and confusing to me and obvs Edgar Ellen Poe didn't intend this part to be. Overall though it was very interesting spoilers, having the plague physically manifest as a person, and these great lines, >There are chords in the hearts of the most reckless which cannot be touched without emotion. >Even with the utterly lost, to whom life and death are equally jests, there are matters of which no jest can be made. Pure poetry (pic somewhat realted, its interesting how the Red Death may of help inspire the King in Yellow)

Delta Green: How big a problem is skill overlap? I'm making an FBI Agent, but we already have Forensics, Bureaucracy, and HUMINT covered by a State Trooper.If it's a problem, I may change to a CIA Agent or NSA Cryptographer.

I've been thinking of putting together an urban horror/weird fiction setting based on the works of Thomas Ligotti (similar to Cthulhu City from Trail of Cthulhu) for our Esoterrorists campaign. Something akin to a modern-day Mirocaw/Nortown/degenerate little town somewhere in the American Rust Belt. Any good anons that can offer some pointers for sources of inspiration?

Had fun running the Tyger a while back. TLDR a memetic equivalent to the xenomorph's body horror infestation-reproduction cycle. The end result was Borges's Zahir crossed with a cyborg war-machine, it made a point not to kill people much like a cat playing with mice. Instead the rumbling purrs echoed in the ears, the pattern of stripes haunted the eyes and the meres scratch itched like a fractalPlayers were convinced that it was hacking them somehow and started "de-auging" the disposable bodies they were decanting into. Didn't do a thing, the medium of infection was the information itself. Ultimately a Lovecraft lite game (PCs are horrors in their own right) so they Shere Khan'd it (IE worked out that the thing was the distorted upload of a literal cat, a cat terrified of napalm even though its new chassis was immune).

Me and a friend started working on a Delta Green campaign. Let me know what you think of the basic plot idea >First adventure is similar to the start of Iconoclasts, where it's a bit of a prologue story. The players play as some pre-gen civilians that run one of those paranormal exploration Youtube channels, and they enter an abandoned military bunker in Mississippi. >The bunker, unknown to them, happens to contain an Avatar of Y'golonac that they accidentally free when trying to escape after a Delta Green team shows up, having been notified of activity, as they monitored the area. >The Avatar breaks free and makes its way south to New Orleans >The actual campaign starts here, with the first real adventure being tracking down where the Avatar went. >The Avatar has the ability to transform those who look upon it, hear its voice or otherwise linger for too long around it. These transformed people are called "Angels" and they are nightmares given form >The Avatar hides inside a mausoleum of a family patriarch in the graveyard, and when his family visited his grave for the tenth anniversary of his passing, they all became corrupted, all turning into Angels(each one modeled after one of the 7 deadly sins because we're creatively bankrupt like that) >The core of the campaign is finding the location of Y'golonac, finding a way to trap him again and destroying or containing the Angels and the cults forming around them. >Y'golonac's influence also affects the minds of the people of New Orleans, corrupting them and making them surrender to their base desires. There's far more crime, violent and sexual, and the Agents have to cover a lot of it up, especially the high profile stuff, to not draw attention There's a lot of other stuff too, like tracking down the Testaments of Glaki, and the fact that the Cthulhu Cult of Louisiana is a faction that is trying to help the Agents against what they see as a rival god, but that's the basic idea for the campaign. Thoughts?

The God in the Bowl, The Scarlet Citadel, and Xuthal of the Dusk are all very much horror forward sword and sorcery stories. Are there games that actually work with this sort of feeling? Bronze age horror seems like you can do it with something like Glorantha, Chaos and the activities of some of the more out there enemies of the bestiaries as well as everything going on in that nightmare of the Lunar Empire definitely seem like it but I don't know if anyone can suggest a system to look into that can sort of lean into it a bit more or if I'm just gonna have to GURPS it up.

As a publisher author and poet in weird literary circles, but, more importantly, as someone who has run Call of Cthulhu since 2018, I don’t think Lovecraft’s stories can be translated to an interactive game. Even the whodunnit nature of detective work in CoC is barely the same as the antiquarian research of Lovecraft’s characters. The cosmic dread of being so insignificant can only be shown in sanity loss scenes where you strip the characters of any agency.

Is Delta Green worth running if you know very little about Cthulhu mythos? I like the idea of the setting and would like to run it x-files styled monster of the week investigations with the occasional multi-session long hunts but I'm not sure how easy it'll be to decouple it from Cthulhu. I've started reading some shit, like The King in Yellow and this huge Lovecraft book I have but honestly I find some of Lovecraft's stories pretty fucking bad.

Look Outside is very underated. Truly one of the modern greats of comsic horror alongisde bloodborne. While Bloodborne was traditional victorian era, Look Outside is some of the best modern day cosmic horror I've seen. Certianly the best monster design and body horror I've seen, endless amazing designs. Also could be a fun setting, you and whatever wackos that have knocked on your door (who may have looked outside and are monstrous powerful beings) exploering a building or city with god knows what mutations and monsters hiding there.
