I Dark Sun's focus mechanics as originally presented. Dwarves focus autistically on their devoted industry to the point that they'll naturally become undead to finish it. It doesn't have that much mechanical impact on players, but does mechanically turn them into the thing that stories make them out to be. I think it's great.

I always feature a pipe smoking dwarf bard somewhere in my campaigns. Last time it was Urist McResineight. I never intend for him to be a main character but with how he was most recently treated he may come back as a vengeful foe.
