Palladium Games and Rifts General! /PGaRG/
The world is a broken, post-apocalyptic wasteland destroyed by the eruption of inter-dimensional portals, rifts in the fabric of space-time and ley lines which crisscross the world. Demon & alien invaders have poured out of the rifts to destroy human civilization and claim the Earth. Now the wasteland has had 300 years to partially recover, and civilization has returned to the world; but not just human civilization: alien empires, monster kingdoms, lost time travellers, lands of mutants, demonic overlords and wizards have arisen from the ashes, all trying to rebuild the world in their own image!
RIFTS! The science fantasy world of post-apoc cyborgs, wizards, dragons, ninjas, giant mecha, super-nazis, robot ninjas, vampires, underwater kingdoms, remnant human supertech civilizations and everything you can imagine all rolled into one setting where interdimensional RIFTS have pierced Earth's fabric and turned it into a playground for aliens and monsters!

I've only briefly played Palladium games, and the system struck me as clunky as hell, but something about the insanity of Rifts has always been appealing to me. Unfortunately it's hard to really convey this in an appealing way to the uninitiated.

Alright rifts bros. My party is all godlings and demigods hybrid classes except me and an anti-monster. The GM is asking if I'm feeling alright being a normal human leyline walker. Personally, I think that being a LLW means that I'm getting as powerful as them with every level but what do you guys think? Is a LLW able to scale up to high power games?

I keep looking at the cyberknight and I just can't see how this is high powered at all. Like, it's like a juicer, a psychic, and has some rather janky armor. It doesn't seem like it can walk into a room full of equipped man at arms and walk out in one piece.

Vampire Kingdoms invading North America, secret vampires assassinating and taking over key positions in the NGR and CS, and maybe taking down Lazlo cause those goodie-two-shoes are weak and too trusting.

I've been thinking a lot about Lazlo and what would be in it's own book. I think new spells probably would be expected but I don't know what they would be. I think they would likely have a TW robot force that is reconstructed scrap power armors like a cross between New West TW power armors and Federation of Magic constructs or the Iron Giants from Tolkien.If I was writing I would have a horrible secret involving the government officially not condoning necromancy that uses sentient creature corpses but using something that runs on human souls, like a percentage of their defense force is animated wood puppets running on human souls.The political bits would be complicated as they already established there are several different parties ranging from Warhawks to peaceniks to human supremist parties, to a dragon supremist party. And of more militant and aggressive New Lazlo wanting to punish the CS which I think is a thing you could write how they are being secretly supported by some Lazlo factions that want to kill skullboys with deniability.

I think a cool campaign idea to use for a more malignant Great House in Splicers is that they have a few unique "Loadouts" of Host Armor (They can be built like a normal suit, but they come with some stuff baked in) that they can Field in much larger numbers than one would expect, but they also never use Biotics.
I think you can guess exactly what they're doing.

Are dragons big players in the Rifts world? I got the distinct impression that they're not, they're just kind of hanging around doing low-level stuff and have representation on Atlantis but not big empire, kingdom or power base of any kind. Always wondered why Kevin made them RCCs in the core book when they're so niche.

How do you guys solve the "party bus is just as weak as their individual armor" problem? Most vehicles range in defense from heavy armor to midrange power armor, if your shit gets ambushed its not uncommon for your vehicle to be fucked, which might hold a whole lot of your personal wealth, ammo, vulnerable NPCs, etc. Youre party bus is usually slower than personal transport which can outrun it meaning you cant just break away & run.

Speaking of Metalheads, I'd really like to know how customizable they can get. I already wish there was more concrete rules for adding stuff from Sourcebook One into cyborgs, UT this adds even more potential options. There's little to no difference between robots & power armor & cyborgs & such. The books will even say as much. Can a regular cyborg get a universal energy plug from Northern Gun in their wrist? I don't see why not. Could a TW Borg get a few extra Arzno PPE batteries installed to give them even more power? Can you strap rockets to a cyborg? Install some TW Bionic style upgrades/weapons into a golem? I don't see how they can't benefit from something like the Wave Impact Generator or the dragonbreath weapon.

I'm thinking of upping the damage of railguns across the board.
The fact they need both ammo and energy makes me feel like they should pack more of a punch.
Especially given they also tend to weigh 5x as much as the equivalent energy weapon.
Also I fucking love rail guns.
Only question is do I remove the burst rules for rail guns and make them work like other sci fi railguns (and like the boom gun) or do I keep them as magnetic machine guns?
In either case I think 4d6+4 damage will be the weakest one and go up from there.

It'd be cool if there was an Electrosynthesis Metabolism for Host Armor
Basically a set of Organs that take ambient electromagnetic fields and convert them into Bio-E.
As for an inhanced sense...they can perceive electromagnetic fields visually (It was this or a biological compass)

Also I got a question. A lot of things mention how they react to cold magic but I swear ice damage dealing weapons is very rare and there are only a few ice spells in the invocation school. Do you guys actually encounter ice damage dealing things in campaigns?I ran a splicer campaign and I never really could find a technological weapon to base ice weapons to fight splicers with.

Doofy ideas I had for Splicers OCCs
>An OCC were they get a suit Host Armor and then they get "Mount Armor" with bigger guns that's worn by their Host Armor. Yes this is a reference to the Guyver Gigantic, but who can blame me that shit's fucking cool.
