This frustrates them to no end and instils a sort of victim mentality in them despite being more successful than both this century in terms of trophies.Just any time there is some Feyenoord/Ajax news you find PSV fans in the comments moaning about them not getting enough attention, calimero's we call them.

Bayer Leverkusen is seen as less shit than Wolfsburg, which is about the same degree of shittiness as Hoffenheim (or worse), which is less shit than the RB clubs
Leverkusen is still shit. They were "okay" until Bayer noticed the possibilities in the mid-70s
PSV seems very comparable to Leverkusen, though they started playing high up decades earlier. If Philips does not own PSV anymore, they are aight for all I care. You can still call them half-plastic for their history, but if they are just founders and sponsors instead of owners, they are acceptable. But I guess it also kind of depends on the sum Philips gives them

Clubs like Bayer Leverkusen were not a problem in 1904 when Bayer established a recreational sports club for their factory workers - it only became a problem like 70 years later when Bayer decided to turn that club into a professional asset. Likewise, Manchester City is not soulful because they were founded "authentically" if they got bought by the UAE later
If Philips still owns PSV and/or gives them a lot of money in a way that makes the club look dependent, the club is plastic. But plastic is the norm
Only a few clubs with member-ownership can claim to be genuinely better. But these clubs usually are not as successful, though there are a few exceptions

PSV is seen as an inoffensive club to support, they don't have the big rivalries Ajax and Feyenoord have but they have the same trophy cabinet. Them winning the league is never a big thing like when Feyenoord wins it nor does it cause as much asshurt as when Ajax does.
