Sperm is plentiful, eggs are limited. Produce sperm in perpetuity. Plap plap plap. When eggs become limited, the drive is there to use them. Baby fever peaks in women at 30-32. Even staunch child free women will want to get pregnant.

Human reproduction and sexual behaviour is very complicated and asymmetrical. There's no reason to expect them to be equal. Furthermore, the idea that you can accurately measure libido is a dubious one. So that chart is likely to be garbage on a number of levels, in my eternally humble opinion.

My guess would be that women are more selective but on a clock so it starts off low then increased as menopause gets closer to make sure she actually reproduces, while for men it's just a function of hormones which are most plentiful in puberty then taper off

why does it need to have a "purpose"?surely it's somewhat obvious that growing babies is more resource-intensive on the human body than it is to produce sperm? even when the female sexual engine isn't running, it needs more maintenance than the male sexual engine, as evidenced by what women go through during menstruation (also loss of biological resources through blood)
