Step one of science experiment is to observe a natural phenomenon. You also cannot conduct science without experiment. Im afraid 95% of people dont know this and thus explains why a bunch of bologny "theories" are called "sciences"
Science: is known as natural science or study of the natural world, establishing cause and effect using hypothesis and experiment.
Cause and effect is seeking an objective outcome, like as 0s and 1s, black and white, yes or no. In other words, did the result of your experiment answer your hypothesis? Yes or no question.
You cannot have science theories without first going through science experiment. This will help you detect pseudoscience much more sharply, use it as you will.

it's also a moot point since you will never be albe to communicate science to normies without dumbing it down extremely. Hence why "theory" is thrown around willy nilly. Most of science these days can't be replicated, let alone tested in the field, due to too many variables, at least for most of biology that is the case. The ideal would be to test shit in ideal conditions and then follow it up with a field test with variables you'd find in a general use case or the intended use case.

Theoretical work starts from experimental and observational first principles and derives new predicted behaviors. This is a fundamental part of hard sciences that informs new experimentation and observation. One ignores the work of theorists at their own peril.
