It's because human life is an insignificant accident and you're living on a tiny rock in space. This is a very scientific view by default, but having actual scientific evidence of it would be even more scientific so I await eagerly for Two More Weeks to pass.

Lots of people suspect incorporeal entities but nobody apparently dares to really confirm them.
Functional models of the universe leave room for such entities. Widespread reports about the clockwork elves or some giant snake are independent experiences of the same or similar circumstances.
The thing is, if incorporeal entities were in fact here the whole time, then nothing really changes except for public discourse about the matter. Think of the utter havoc that could be brought upon modern psychiatry if extra-dimensional entities had more robust proof, or if research into telepathy opened up again. (The last person that I know of made who serious work into telepathy was a Mexican scientist that just disappeared somewhere in Mexico, take that for what you want.)

The only serious organization that has ever looked into this was the CIA and their science wasn't even bad, their conclusion was that methods like remote viewing just weren't reliable enough for intelligence purposes.

Your lack of imagination or knowledge makes you stupid by definition. Let me spoonfeed it to you like all the other information you have. We’d gain entirely new biochemistries to study. Organisms that might use silicon instead of carbon, ammonia instead of water, or genetic systems beyond DNA and RNA. That alone could rewrite molecular biology and medicine. Evolutionary theory would be recontextualized with a second data point for how life emerges, potentially revealing universal biological laws instead of Earth specific patterns. If those lifeforms harnessed energy, matter, or information in ways unknown to us astrobiology, materials science, energy production, and computing could leap centuries forward overnight.

The day life is found outside our planet will be a historical day but I think that with all those planets that exist everybody assumes there is life but we haven't found it yet. So I think it won't be a big deal.>NASA has found some type of algae in a planet so far away that we will never go there.
