I decided to make my very first indie video game. You guessed it, it's going to be a generic 2D platformer.
It's super hard to stand out these days, especially if your genre is so overdone it has become a Unity tutorial template.
But I have to work within the limits of my skills, and compensate with other stuff like the OST.
I think this game will be free on Steam or 5 bucks at most. My budget is about 30k and I was thinking of spending 99% of it on the OST. No matter how short or generic a game might be, a bangin sound track can make or break the game.
The OST neads to be fast-paced jazz fusion preferrably with realistic sounding virtual instruments. I dont want it to sound like 16bit music, retro, or anything like that. Neads to be high fidelity as FUCK.
I made a temp / placeholder song with AI:

The question is, how HARD is it to find a guy who can make songs like that? I dont want to use AI-generated music or graphics in my game. I want it to be an artistic endeavour. A 2D platformer is bland and soulless enough as it is, so it will 100% lean on the art and character design. The character will be a hot chick like Shantay so that's most of the marketing done right there anon.
