>Kouki Amarei made her pro wrestling debut in May of last year and became the inaugural GHC Women’s Champion, but suffered a serious injury in her first title defense that forced her out of action for five months. She made her return at the May 24 Marigold show at Yoyogi. Although she lost the belt just nine days later, her eyes remain fixed on the future. (Interview and text by Ryogo Hashiba)>On May 24, Kouki Amarei stepped through the entrance gate for her first match in five months. Though it was a different venue, the sloped path to the ring and the expansive seating stretching far into the distance mirrored the scene of her injury in Ota Ward.>"It’s true that for a moment I thought, ‘Whoa.’ But I wasn’t alone for my return match—(Tanaka) Kizuna was with me. Kizuna walked ahead of me, and it felt like the whole view changed. Of course, I was nervous, but Kizuna—who usually gets nervous before matches—told me, ‘I want to be your support today, so I won’t get nervous,’ and that really helped me relax (laughs). Honestly, my match instincts weren’t back at all. I don’t think I ever had especially wide awareness in the ring, but it felt even narrower this time. It was a completely different sensation from before the injury. My stamina pacing was off too—I must’ve been putting in more effort than I realized."https://x.com/encountofficial/status/1936367133904003338
