During the lockdown/vax bs in Ireland the only work available was in building/renovating hotels. Every street in every town and city suddenly needed a new hotel or hostel. Lots of old buildings were bought up or mysteriously burned down, renovated and replaced replaced in weeks. Nobody could make sense of it. Tourism was down even before goyvid and it's not like we had any big events coming up that would justify such hasty construction. When everything reopened, suddenly efforts were focused on building hundreds if identical apartment complexes like picrel. Then the 'refugee crisis' happened and it suddenly all made sense.But when.you remind people of the series of events they act like you're crazy. They remember how we were weirdly fitting out hotels while the entire world was locked down, they remember they were filled with foreigners upon completion paid for by our tax money.
