If industrial ethanol were sold, people would slowly and gradually shift to drinking filtered industrial ethanol and water for pretty much free, thus losing the normgroid market. Not sure why you wouldn’t just buy gut rot bottom shelf handles of vodka and run it through a coffee filter or Brita unless you’re homeless and even then you should be able to panhandle enough to keep your BAC high. More importantly what’s the appeal of a drug that you don’t crave (unless you’re addicted) that makes you not want to stop consuming it until you’re passed out? Actually, ethanol is the antidote to methanol. So you can still drink it. You can also use bitter orange flavouring which blocks the receptors that detect the bittering agent. Wash it down with a few beers at the end of the night you'll be fine.
