I tried to check out other online places for photography and it was utter dogshit. Is /p/ really the last bastion for would-be auteurs?

I hope not, I was seeking advice from /p/ almost exclusively so far since I have no one else to discuss photography with. But last year when I made thread about anime cons photos it barely had any replies, this year's one similar. I don't really know where else I could ask for opinions or advices.Tried checking local offers for "consultations" but they were all very expensive and I'm afraid that my photos would be deemed unworthy of their attention anyway.

cities have photography clubs with real humans actually shooting pictures and sharing them with each other for feedback. they tend to use shitty social media things like meetup or facebook. absolute noobs can connect through a photography class. professional photogs have networks and talk shop with each other. forums are for shitposting, if you are active you don't need to fulfill that function on a chinese basket weaving forum

As a veteran of forum life and /p/, my .02 shekelsForums and shit like photography-on-the.net are safe space hug boxes, you'll never get a straight critique out of any of those places, same with social media. Everyone is worried about repercussion, here on /p/ I can call you a nigger and there ain't shit anyone can do about it. You are far more likely to get a good crit here it's the wild west of the Internet. There are exceptions to that like PHOTRIO which has a critique board and you can have cats who been in the game 50 years come on there and look at your shit.I owe almost all of my skills to people like 5h0e, d, $19.99, Alex and PhotoshopR these guys back in the day came on here and dropped serious knowledge and I learned a lot even though I still kinda suck but I'm a lot better than I was. Then you had cats like Alphon that would drag his veiny nutsack across your post and then turn around and tell you what ypou did wrong and how to make it better.The problem with /p/ now is that it is no longer the last bastion of free speech on the Internet because free speech implies the exchange of ideals and critique without intervention and that's not happening here anymore, it's just gear threads and calling people niggers or criticizing them over their equipment or "brand loyalty" which is bullshit. I am so glad they got rid of EXIF because I use pretty much every major brand on the market right now in my body of work and you would never know it, even though primarily I am a Nikon Boomer.OP stick around, I would rather be called a nigger than have to deal with the Facebook hug box.

1/8 handheld with no visible camera shake just means you are SHIT at developing your photos or use SHIT lenses, or, more likely, you have SHIT eyes.
