Let's talk about lighting.
> Broncolor: 3000usd per flash head, the power pack is 15000
> Profoto: basically the same as broncolor
> Aperture: 1/5~ of BC and PF
> Godox: 1/5 ~ 1/10 of the BC and PF
Do high end lighting gears really worth it?
What's the catch on 20k worth Broncolor studio set(excluding modifiers) when 1k Fomex flash set can shoot the same bi-color light?
Back then the chinese slops actually were trash so one might needed to invest a lot of money on it but today it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

If you are a poorfag, buy your own equipment and use it: Godox. If you rent on location: pro brands.

I use Godox since who the fuck needs $30,000 lighting setups for a hobbyist-grade kit. If you're doing legitimate full grade studio shoots then you rent your shit unless you're pulling six figure+ revenue.I use two TT350s with white reflective umbrellas on a tripod stand, with an X2T remote trigger for dual off-camera flash when I'm at home.
This is normally for macro, figurines, portraits of friends and family etc. Unironically the umbrellas are not needed indoors half the time since using bounce flash off my solid-white ceiling is quite effective (look it up). My lighting kit is a bit weak for outdoors use but does decently as a fill flash as long as I'm not twenty meters away.All in all for a whopping total of like $400 I'm quite happy with the quality and usefullness of the gear you can get from chingchong brands these days.

I would skip Broncolor all together
Godox (and rebrands like Flashpoint/Cheetah) are fine for 99% of shooting.
If you end up using your strobes a lot, Profoto can be worth it for the improvement in light quality, color consistency (picrel), and build quality. Profoto is also more industry standard at the higher end, so that sets you up better for rental houses and collaborations.
I still just use Godox myself though, and have had several units last many years. If I had my own studio, or used strobes more consistently, I would absolutely swap to Profoto.Back in my day, the budget options were Yonguo speed lights, Alien Bees for strobes, both triggered through Pocket wizards. Basic Godox stuff is just miles better now.

I bought this foldable beauty dish ( https://www.smdv.co.kr/product/flip-beauty20-beautydish-diameter-50cm/2357/?cate_no=24&display_group=1 ) to go with my Godox V1 Pro for my portable portrait set, and the quality of my pictures improved a lot. I recommend it.
