I was looking around in my city for a public/community shared darkroom/print space as I don’t have the space to do it at home and found a place that sounds great as far as the facilities go, but the people running it and their whole mission seems to be progressive woke womyn run and focused. Not explicitly, they supposedly “welcome everyone” but like picrel just says it all. I looked around for other options and basically every artists group here is the same, the school of art, open art spaces, even the local “hacker/makerspace” seems to be a tranny daycare. Just maximum virtue signalling buzzwords and labels type of people, and it seems you can’t find just a basic “normal” non-political photography group. What’s up with that? Are we really just outliers on here? Like I’m still tempted cause it’s only 35 bucks a year for 24/7 darkroom access but I’d basically have to do maximum power level hiding at all times. Wonder if it’s worth it. How have you all found other photographers to be? Is this the nature of “creative” pursuits? Were the wokeys right, conservatives can’t into art?

The arts as a whole have been systematically forced into this ideology. The US Government unironically did it. Long story, but it dates back to children of prominent government and military figures infiltrating music subcultures that professed anti-war and anti-government ideas and turning them into drug addled sex parties.They even double tapped universities when occupy wall street broke out, because antigovernment sentiment wasn't dead yet. Now all those groups are pro government. It worked! Yes, I know, the anti-government is starting to come back and they hate jews now, I know... every time they try to kill it, they make it worse.Knowing that epstein was a thing, this shoudn't sound crazy. Because the government sysematically discrediting the art by injecting them with absurdity is tamer than all that shit. Photography is may be the most woke art medium so even historically every right leaning photographers have to larp as apolitical for example William Eggleston, Robert Adams, Andreas Gursky etc.

That's just the arts. The vast majority of people in arts circles are incredibly self-absorbed, self-righteous, and self-serving because you kind of have to be in order to push to make a name for yourself. If you don't have a recognized name/identity/brand then you don't get the funding.
That's why there's all this drivel being published alongside the actual art pieces, too, because that's the current landscape; it's very hard to be cutting edge in the technical or thematic sense, so you adopt the narrative of the thing that's currently the impactful hot topic. Right now that's identity politics, and it's left-leaning because left-leaning people are more likely to end up pursuing the arts instead of something more traditionally productive. I'm left-leaning myself, but I am tired of the local art scene being a bunch of navel-gazers "challenging patriarchal, heteronormative views with their art" while producing the worst derivative drivel

I just develop in my bathroom. Kill the lights, red cellophane tape at the bottom of the door to provide my dim red light, turn the fan on, work that shit, bobs yer oncle. When I'm done i clean up & it turns back into a bathroom. This prevents me from having yet another room full of bullshit piling up to maintain and worry aboot. Yes, amateur arts are always woke. And the state will promote them financially. So museums and other venues.
Right wing artists, aka normal people, are people who have good jobs and do that stuff as a side hobby. Most jazz players are doctors or lawyers and you wont see woke shit. The advanced people at any art tend to be right wing.

Is it like a gym with a swipe card or some shit? Genuinely interested in how they manage 24/7 access. Regardless of whether they were bearable people or not, it would still be more convenient to use at a time when nobody else is there.
