on the verge of tearing my hair out trying to get better results from my flatbed scanner, it kind of gets the job done and it was $20 used but at this point it's such a headache I'm not sure it's worth it. But also I'm still in school and I don't have the kind of money to throw $500 at one of the nice plustek or primefilm scanners, what should I do?Is there anything that could be a bit better than an old flatbed for around $100 or am I screwed?I do have a crop-frame DSLR but I don't have a light table, copy stand, macro lens, etc. but if I could do a camera digitization thing for not too much money I'd do that too

If i shot a roll of iso 400 at 200 should i tell the developing lab? I've heard of the push/pull processing but will it make a large difference or will the scans look bad otherwise?

I recently bought a SCSI film scanner with the intention of saving money, and try to get the best value when it comes to a scanner. For some reason the older Nikon CoolScans with a SCSI interface are not worth much, which I had assumed for the interface and not because it performs poorly compared to the USB ones, so I thought that this was a good avenue, as long as I don't mind using a Windows 98 PC with a SCSI card.Am I wrong in my assumption? Is there another reason these are so cheap? I can't find much information about these scanners but them being the pro model of the time, I can't imagine that they don't give good scans.

Is expired d76 and the associated Kodak fixer still good beyond its expiry date? It’s the powder, but expired in 2009. EBay seller sent me an offer for 30 bucks for two big bags of chems plus a full unopened bottle of photoflow, I’m tempted, but I don’t know how stable these things keep.

Can any Anons way in on the weird focus falloff in this shot? I'm a bit worried I've got a dud lens with uneven focus.
It's a Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 II.
The leaves at the far right being in focus, the sign on the right not, and then not much focus falloff on the left side feels weird.

Scanning:
How much would sensor size matter? I have a 50mp pixel shift m43 or 20mp full frame. I have good macro lenses for both, also have the option of using an enlarging lens. What would be better? I'll mostly be scanning 35mm but I'm gunna do 120 once my rolling boy sixty-seven has the parts it needs. I have a good light box made for scanning film as well as a copy stand, if that matters.

for you lads who photograph your negs (no, i won't use the S word i'm not using a flatbed yes i'm autistic why did you ask), how exactly do you determine your base exposure settings for that roll? i just did a couple rolls and they seem way off, and i CBA to set everything up again lol, but for the next time, should i shoot a blank frame to "calibrate" or some such? hard to say from the camera screen, looks much different once you get it in lightroom. picrel an example.
Ontop of it it seems i forgot to adjust the camera and exposed foma100 as 200 lol.

Bellows replacement completed. Definitely worth getting the pre-framed bellows so I didn't have to deal with 100 staples and glue. Can't wait to take some snapshits with this thing.I got a sinar plate adapter so I can use all my sinar lenses with this thing. Pretty nice and easy.

Please buy a real macro lens to scan film so you dont end up one of those "35mm is 10mp" people unless you are planning on a <10mp final product with no editing.The sigma 70mm macro (f, ef and e mount) is a very good scanning lens. Not a good lens for anything else.

Check out this incredible piece of glass. 165mm f8 super angulon. It's in a special enclosure that allows you to put an electronic shutter and front standard holder between it for added stability. I will be purchasing a copal 3 shutter for it, probably. I think you can do that.I won an incredible sinar 8x10 ebay lot. 4 or 5 8x10 lenses, complete 8x10 Sinar P1, 8 8x10 film holders with some ektachrome 64 in a few!, tons of accessories, and the whole reason I wanted to purchase the lot, a sinar branded 8x10 carrying case!! The 8x10 cases are super rare.A minty 165mm super angulon with a copal 3 shutter is about the same price as the entire lot I won lol. There are still good deals on ebay. Just be patient.

this is the 3rd roll I have ever developed, what the fuck are these blue dots on the film and this weird ass wave? What did I fuck up with this roll? Its Ektar 100 I used cine C41 and a standard tank and followed the directions to the T even down to 4 more seconds on the chems, any idea where I fucked up? I had another weird thing happen, when I did the rinse the water at the bottom came out pink lemonade pink, along with that there was what looked like a film colored dirt on the bottom of the plastic spool thing. My chems were mixed 2 days ago and been in accordion containers with the air removed.

I was checking depth precision of my film holders.
The most precise ones are fidelity elite with very little variation from reference (mostly 0,05mm), after them are Lisco regal II, than Lisco mark II and for a great surprise the worst ones are Toyo-s with variations between 0,25-0,35mm. Toyo also feels the most flimsy

This effect is due to light leak correct? This was frame 30 on color positive Kodak my friend bulk rolled and no other frame on my camera has experienced this. My camera is a Ricoh XR-7 so if I do need to replace the light seals what foam should I buy? The one by the hinge is visibly going. These were developed at a lab.Also any tips on starting home development? I plan on first attempting to develop ilford b&w using stand development, and nothing with prints yet. And I feel pretty confident in understanding the process? (Also should I buy the tool to get a film leader if it’s stuck in the cassette? I feel it’s better safe than sorry and only $10)
