Today was the final day of my trip. Late start again. Fishing was slow and difficult. However, I got this big bow to bite. My PB. I thought it was a 20, so I went to crazy lengths to measure it. Turned out to be only 17. It got dark, and it sounded like a human baby was nearby. Kind of creepy.

With my desire to learn baitcasters undeterred from birds nests, I picked up a Pflueger casting combo today, a PRESLP701, for about $110.7' one piece rod, full cork handle (like i like), medium-heavy, fast action. Came with the PresidentLP reel, 6.5:1. Havent done much besides finger fuck yet, but it feels smooth. The lock tab is a bit stiff, gonna carefully disassemble and get some better lube in before i spool it up.Gonna use the 15# spider wire braid i got handy, and the birds nest i trashed the other day will get used to practice alberto knots with a roll of old ass trillene i found hiding in the shed.Pflueger reccs i start with 20# braid, but for learning (and catching stickfish) 15 should be ok.

Looking more at boats, I can see that they are definitely not worth it for me. I mostly fly fish in areas you can only wade. Boats are just so expensive and require so much upkeep. It would be nice to go out on a friend's boat once in a while, but there's no way I'm going to think about buying one for a long time to come.

i just recently got into carp fishing because of stories of elders eating carp back in the day my great grandpa fishing about anything he could to put food on the table and my grandma eating carp among other things my cousin's great grandpa fishing carp at his lake cabin and having a U shaped deck with a carp enclosure in the middle, having a deal with the local fishmonger and butcher so i got my first solo carp at 7.5kg on my penn 710 greenie, made filets and will try a bunch of recipes for my culinary culture

I got to call a black coworker a coon today. Spot secrecy is kind of a point of contention where I work. Anyway, he asked me where I was going. I said none of your business (although it's not like I'd keep a spot from him). And then said, Coon, which is the spot I was going to. It made him laugh too, so that was good. I went there saw out of state plates for the second time in as many visits, this time being the first time I'd actually fish it. Lots of stocker rainbows. It is a remote creek that looks great and also fishy, but it's got a bunch of rainbows. I caught one brown. It would be a great place for wild browns.

Tried my luck again today. Skunked, as expected. Took out the 8'6" Okuma Celilo spinner, hasnt seen any action yet this year.I did send a float and a spinner to the moon, though... 1/2 CRCT caught on the fly Hatfish jumped like 6in out of a 3ft wide pool for the hopper as I dipped a hopper-dropper just to let it drift down a little. I caught some great fish this summer, but for somewhere I didn’t expect to end up, and given the average size of the fish in this creek, this might be my best catch ever. Also technically first catch on the fly rod even if there was no cast at all. Caught about an 8incher later, on a spruce twig with line tied to it. There might be two more chances for different cutties before summer is over, maybe a redside, either way I’m quite happy with how things turned out after it started with infinite pikeminnow Thank you for reading my blog

What are your favourite baits, anons? Something you chuck on the hook when things are slow and almost always catch somethingFor me it's gotta be prawns and nippers (those little bastards you suck up from the sand with a pump).For freshwater, worms have outcaught every other bait for me. Unless I'm using pilchards or other small dead baitfish, almost always guarantees me an eel or a cat.I tried crickets from a pet store that you get for feeding lizards once, but had no hits, ended freeing the survivors into the grass. Might give it another crack in summertime on a light running sinker

Been practicing some knots, watching the jewtubers spooling the baitcasters...Why arent they popping out the spool? Theyre keeping together and fishing the line in, out and around! Granted im green af with em, but popping the spool out, running the line thru the guide and tying on seems so much easier than fighting the line on a whole ass reel.I suppose its for on the water? Dont have to worry about the side plate falling into the abyss?

Never been on this board before.Recently got into surf fishing in NorCal. I'm addicted, but I've only caught perch and jacksmelt so far. Only really fished Pacifca beaches so far.I've just been throwing carolina rigs with sand crabs or 1oz kastmasters. Caught my first carp yesterday. I cast the line slightly over a small tree branch and when I went to remove it by hand he took off with it and nearly yanked the pole in. There were a ton feeding a few feet from the photo at the edge of the inlet i was standing in, almost thought it was a catfish.

I do a lot of wade fishing, and I want to protect the seats of my new car. I've been interested in getting a beaded seat cover to prevent back sweat, which I often get, but I'm not sure that they will help to reduce moisture on the seat and concerned that the beads might deform it. I'm curious what other anons do.

Hey, lads. Camping for the first time, outside of a couple of awful Scout trips. I'm fishing in an area too far to make a day trip, so I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to try out car camping. I'm underprepared in terms of research.
