He's been at it for so long, but hasnt really gotten anywhere. He built like 6 different mud huts. Half of them fell down. He's made some bellows and roof tiles I guess. But he keeps stalling and going backwards, instead of advancing and making Primitive metal tools/systems to eventually evolve to premodern systems and tools.I used to watch every video of hisbthat came out like 10 years ago. Not anymore. He's stagnated. don't know why he keeps going back to making roof tiles, other clay things and kilns and huts and shit. It's like he doesn't want to leave his comfort zone anymore.

I agree with the posters who say he should tech advance.I found primitive technology very interesting, you learn a level of self reliance by seeing HOW these things were done and how you could do it yourself. But whats the point of playing in the dirt with sticks forever? He's trying to do everything on his own, which is based and possible at a primitive tech level, but that's impossible further on. You need people for that, lots of people performing specialized labor. He should advance through the tech tree but emphasize to the audience the "shortcuts" he's taking. Is he going to find all the metal he needs in his backyard? Doubtful. FIND some metal the hard way first, and then just extrapolate further that "if I was part of a tribe, we'd collect this metal over years", buy an analog at the hardware store, and get smithing.>just checked his recent videos and hes building ANOTHER mudbrick roof for the same mudbrick house he's had for years

his iron smelts yields like 20g per batch and he picks them out as little droplets. then when he tries to consolidate them, it just all oxidizes and its not like hes got a good flux.
he needs to make a batch 10-20x the size, pick out the bloom from the furnace while still at welding heat and then forge it to remove the slag and consolidate the iron to a bar. I dont see how you could possibly do this with wooden tongs and a fisthammer + anvil stone.
Id say hes bricked pretty badly without a basic iron hammer and tongs.

Look up Chad Zuber on Youtube. His content is vastly more varied and interesting than Primitive Technology. He actually tries to survive in various locations and experiment with primitive tools in survival scenarios. I agree that Primitive Technology has been posting the same shit for years with nothing new or exciting.

I think it's really impressive how good he's gotten with fire sticks. I wish he'd give the fire roll a try

He's a hero.Making a hut is a goal. The hut standing up is a developmental goal, but working out how to make huts well is a achedemic goal. This is why he seems to do things over and over. It's not a lack of progress it's a genuine achedemic pursuit, developing privative technology.Knowing how to make good stone axes, rather then abandoning them when you get metal. Because as you see, it takes so long to make metal without ore mining that it actually wouldn't be sustainable to use metal axes even though you could.
And these are really important questions, when is the privative technology far better then we imagine, you see how good he gets with fire sticks and it becomes clear that the better methods are actually worse. Better to just get good doing it by hand.

He does the same 4 videos over and over. How many times do we need to see him make a furnace?

>channel is called Primitive Technology
>people get genuinely upset because hes only doing primitive thingsEvery day I wish the internet never took off with normalfags so that the bulk of shitposters on this site would be easier to identify and report, instead of what we have today where dumbasses make unironic shitposts and other dumbasses take them seriously.

so the one thing i don't like about primitive technology is he doesn't actually build primitive things, he builds modern interpretations of things in a primitive way. like, i can't even begin to describe my work, but i've built everything, form houses to machines. i've done a lot of bushcraft and seen how things are made, he doesn't even make them in those ways, like, you can tell he has come from indoors, so to speak. i don't know how best to explain it. it's not primitive technology, it's modern technology, or even retarded technology, in a primitive way. and i kinda hate that. primitive people were not so blinkered by preconceptions, so they could come to better solutions.
