today i saw a tick crawling up my hiking pole. I had permethrin sprayed on my pants, socks and boots so i wasn't too concerned but nope!
spray permethrin on your poles too. mine have a foam grip that absorbs water so it can be soaked, otherwise wrap a treated cloth below the grip

You know how movie stunt men have those big flame retardant suits and that gel they wear when they need to be on fire for a scene? What if a just wore that and set myself on fire when I went on hikes? Would that help with ticks?

Thats way more than i need, personally, but my PCP also knows that I'll give it to people im with if they get bitten by a tickIf that doesn't work (they won't give it to you prematurely for tick encounters that havent happened yet), claim that you are homosexual and already get PrEP from another source, but you need an antibiodic because you are promiscuous and want to prevent other diseases besides AIDS; i dont think they can really refuse that oneI frequently hunt and go innawoods looking for mushrooms and mineshafts; i know what kind of pain in the ass ticks are

I went hiking with a friend a few months back in an area where I've never seen ticks before and right as we sat down to rest pretty deep into the canyon I looked to my left and saw ticks less than a foot from my face on the ends of some branches. Little niggers are everywhere now, and luckily I didn't find any on me when I got home.
