A thread for all them big beautiful amphibians and reptiles you’ve seen while /out/. Snakes, frogs, turtles, lizards, and toads. I miss seeing frogs and toads. When I was a kid you could let ride your bike down the road without seeing dozens of pancaked toads on the road… it’s been decades since I’ve seen that now. This big bastard casually strolled through my lawn one morning so I captured it and let it go at the lake. I do not need any snappers hanging around.

The most recent Scarlet Snake I found. The scarlet are cool but the Scarlet Kinsnakes (Milksnakes) are absolutely breathtaking. Ive only found one and dont have pics of it on this phone.

When we first got together the wife and I went to a cookout at my cousins and he was bragging about his pond but lamenting he had no turtles and made the off hand comment “you can’t just go grab turtles out of the lake anymore.” So on the way home I said “hey let’s stop at the lake and grab a turtle”. So we did. His name was George because I will hug him and squeeze him and love him and I will call him George. We let him go after about a year when we got a cat and he was getting too big for the container. Only blurry photo I have unfortunately.

I feel like being reincarnated as a turtle wouldn't be so bad. You'll live a long time and no one will hurt you and you can swim all day or just walk around.

Whats sad...I had a colony of hummingbirds. I tried counting one day on my porch and it was like 120 birds. It was insane. (I had about 30 feeders that year). Then a late season hurricane came through the gulf when they started migrating. Then another mid migration. Then another at the end. The next year it was lean but they were trying. 3 years building back. Then a hurricane direct shotted us.This year I have 1. A female. I hope to God im just on the edge of her range and she found a male next door or something

is that a common snapper? I've seen lots of those but I really want to see an alligator snapping turtle in the wild. Anybody have tips for that?
