Nonsense! I’ve been using Tuva sandals for more than two decades on long hikes, approaches and low level scrambling.Some of the things I’ve done;
*Backpacked the Muir Trail in the Sierra.
*Been on countless hikes and backpacking trips.
*Scrambled up the Death Slabs in Yosemite. Hiked down Half Dome back to the car. 3 times.
*Miles of bushwhacking to obscure crags.
*Climbed 5.7 “slab”
*Weed wack at least an acre of land around the house, every year.
*Summited Mt Whitney, Sill, Tritons, Shasta, and countless others of similarity.
*Hunt every year. (Deer).The things I would use extra caution on are on fields of small talus, hiking through White Thorn or similar low lying brush, moving heavy rocks while trail building or other heavy work (or similar work) or racing, (like Adventure Races where you are moving quickly off trail).
In 20 something years I have only ever experienced a few pokes from thorns, scratched ankles or minor abrasions to the side of the foot. Nothing major.

I tried the bedrocks. Did about a mile and a half in mud and rocks with them. The thong is weird. It kept digging in, and it was the only way to keep them tight.
