the people chastizing catch and release are the same ones you see filling up a bucket with undersized catches and using live bait. I guarantee you a fish would rather me catch and unhook it than end up in your bucket. who in their right mind would eat most freshwater fish anyways, the fucking coast has septic flowing into it, let along the lake with houses lining it's shore. there is a reason these kinds of people have an average life expectancy of 55.

what do game wardens do besides check the fishing livenses of middle-class law-abiding citizens? the same feral people litter the shore every single day and the warden can never catch them? speaking of littering scum, what posesses someone to literally unspool their reel and throw 100+yards of line on the bank? how low of an IQ must you have to do that? especially when a trashcan is like 50 feet away. I really believe people like that should just be shot. imagine what else these people do everywhere else. they must be operation with brain frequencies lower than a squirrel that runs under tires. they are the entire reason most old fishing spots get closed down.

Do you guys ever get kinda sad for the fish? I caught a small one last weekend, and the hook pierced one side of his mouth and then the other side of his cheek. It took a long time to remove and set him free. I then crushed the barbs, but I just watched a fishing video where a hook caught the fish in the eye, and he reeled him in by the eye socket. The last fish I caught ate the whole lure outright and was caught in the back of the throat. I did eventually get the lure out without ripping him up, but when I threw the fish back into the water, he just floated like he was dead for a long time. He eventually started moving again. I am just doing this for fun, but it must be exceptionally traumatic for the fish. Does this not make you sad as a fisherman? How can you learn to enjoy hurting an animal?

Can a tenkarabro help me out real quick, im that hikerfag from the prev thread that ordered the 9ft aventik im12 nano tenkara rod. Still waiting for the rod to be delivered which will be in a couple days, in the meantime ive just been watching videos of tenkara basics and setting up the lines etc. I got a question for all you tenkara bros, which is what's a good kind of dacron to use? Or should i even use a dacron at all? I dont even understand the point of it and to me it just seems like some extra crap to deal with. Can i just tie the level line to the lillian of the rod tip, or is the dacron necessary for the lillian to function or something? I dont see much people explain/discuss the dacron in tenkara videos and it seems odd to me that its typically included in a tenkara kit, which is why im wondering if its necessary in the first place

Never fished ultralight before and decided to try it for the first time on a pond I've fished for years. Usually catch dink bass and have bluegills nibble on my lures in the past. First catch is a decent crappie, I had no idea crappie were even in this pond. Second catch was a 4-5lbs bass, best out of this pond by far. All on 2lbs mono and a 1/32oz jig. Crazy long fight, bass had a 4/0 ewg stuck in his mouth with about 12 inches of line. Felt good to rid him of that. What an experience, I think I'm convinced.

Caught my first decent size bass in a 1/4 acre stock tank in my wife's grandparent's pasture. Apparently it's never been stocked with bass so we don't know he got in there. Caught him on a 90's rapala minnow that was so rusted the hooks wouldn't even penetrate his mouth.

I saw discussion higher up about de-trebling spinners, which is what I’m doing this year after being unsatisfied with just debarbing my panther martins last year (first time I ever actually caught anything) The problem I face now is what size hook to use It seems grinding or crushing the barb on the Siwash Open Eye (pictured) is common practice, but if anyone has experience please lmk cause my best plan right now is going into store with the single hook I bought and comparing. However I also do 1/32oz spinners and there’s no single hook sold to compare to

This is a gami siwash size 8 against the stock PM #2 single hook. It’s slightly longer and thicker. I also grabbed size 10 and it appears to be a perfect match. I’ll probably try both sizes on the 2 and put the 8s on my 4s. As for size 1 PMs, I might be out of luck for what I can find in stores near me. However I know some people have used tiny jap hooks on them
