Can anybody recommend good types of walking sandals. I know those typically don't go together very well, for hiking I use a good pair of shoes obviously, but for longer day walks / trail walks I prefer to feel the breeze. the only band that comes to mind is Birkenstock, but that's because it's the only one I know.

Tevas or Chacos are the go to, just make sure they fit properly or you’ll get some of the worst blisters you’ll ever have in your life

keen. better protection than *fully open toes* sandals, vibram soles, overall good materials, long lasting

Luna are pretty good, but quite overpriced.
