What's the point of this brand? They've felt like an also-ran compared to Cadillac for their entire history, and especially the last 30 years of cars they've made feel even more like tarted up rebadged Fords than Cadillacs do with Chevy, a consitently recurring complaint with them. It doesn't feel like Ford cares about Lincoln or puts any effort into their products either. Where the fuck is the V8 in the Navigator, for example? Or a halo car for people to aspire to like the CT5-V Blackwing?

It's for people who want a luxury car to focus on pure luxury and don't care about the "driving experience" like Cadillac does but the people who buy Lincoln also cant afford something like a true ultra luxury experience like a Bentley; that's why they buy Lincoln.

They're kind of like Buick at this point, in that they mostly exist just to serve the Chinese market hence why their US-market cars are afterthoughts, such as the Navigator with a base pickup truck V6 (while the Escalade has multiple V8s) or the literally Chinese-produced Nautilus. Their only sedan they produce, a spiritual successor to the MKZ, isn't even sold to Americans and is primarily for the Chinese market (yes, there's a platform-shared nu-Taurus that Americans don't get, either).

>Or a halo car for people to aspire to like the CT5-V Blackwing?Lincoln sold twice as many Nautilus's in 2025 than Cadillac sold CT5s of any trim. Its a volume luxury SUV brand based on existing Ford models and doesn't need a halo car to move sufficient units when those already exist under the Ford nameplate.>where the fuck is the V8 in the NavigatorGiven the catastrophic failures of 6.2 V8s they were right to stick with ecoboost V6s. I've driven the Expedition with the same engine and it does well to get out of its own way even if the exhaust note is lame.

Its one of the few luxury brands that still focuses on elegance, materials and build quality rather than "sporty" handling and technology overload. Unfortunately this attracts a very old buyer demographic and the newer ones embraced the giant screens but they are still well put together and dont make you look like every other tech bro or soccer mom in a BMW or Audi.T. Just bought a 2022 Aviator, you can still see the Ford Explorer in some areas but it has a lovely ride on air suspension, great 28 speaker stereo and heavy sound deadening with thicker glass for a peaceful and isolated driving experience.

It hasn't had a reason for existence since Edsel Ford died (1943). Henry bought Lincoln to give Edsel an outlet for his effete tendencies such as using colors other than black on cars and thinking cars should have style instead of looking like a farm implement.Lincoln has remained largely rudderless since except for a brief period in the 70's when HFII liked the kind of cars that Lincoln made at the time. This renaissance lasted until the mid 80's and sputtered out by 1990. Since then Ford has basically refused to spend the kind of money it would take to recruit the talent and buy the resources necessary to get the brand where it should be. As an example about 10 years ago Ford made a crowing announcement that they were going to spend a whole 5 billion dollars on Lincoln to revitalize the brand and its' stores. Consider that at the time a single Ford product launch easily cost that much and here they were trying to convince people that it would remake a whole brand.Nope, Lincoln's a dead brand walking and I can only assume the reason they haven't shuttered the whole thing yet is they'd have to buy out Lincoln dealers.

>What's the point of this brand? Providing the "free luxury upgrade" for car rental places, and making coffin cars that ungrateful grandchildren will inherit, and wish grandpa bought a Mercades-Benz with his union pension instead. They used to be the Old Money to Cadillac's Nouveau Riche, going for very conservative classical styling rather than Cadillac's modern styling, and for being able to, for the most part, preserve that style and their level of luxuriousness while Cadillac was busy watering its brand down, to the point that the Town Car was a very solid luxury vehicle for its entire product lifespan. Unfortunately now every car has to look exactly the same, and, as the gay furry put it, "old money doesn't buy American [cars]" so now Lincoln only has fleet sales and old people to rely on.

Lincoln is for chuds Cadillac is for ChadsFord got pissy that caddy was doing great and went full petty in an attempt to dethrone America's greatest car brand (cadillac)It only worked in the late 70s with the continental. Aside from that. There's nothing of worth made by the President Brand.

>What's the point of this brand? They've felt like an also-ran compared to Cadillac for their entire history, Lincoln had a leg over Cadillac in the 70s and especially the 80s.

As far as crossovers go, the lincoln models look pretty good exterior wise. I can't say the same about their powertrains or interior styling.
