buy harbor freight. if it breaks, buy home depot or lowes. if those break, look at german or japanese, but make sure they arent made in china. if those break, look up one of the boutique american companies.... and maybe take it easy on your tools

Durability arguments aside, they feel better to use. why is that so wrong.niggas will spend 50 dollars on ubering a burrito because it tastes nice for one night, and then scoff at spending 50 dollars more on a nice ratchet that will last 20+ years.

Sockets are so fucking good these days that you'd be retarded to buy snap on sockets at their ridiculous prices. Ratchets and wrenches are damn good in the middle range. There are still some cheap shit ones made for bottom dollar, but you can immediately tell by the fit and finish of it.If you buy a bunch of old tools you will find some cheap shit sockets from years ago that are absolute pot metal garbage with horrible broaching. Now that technology has improved, even most of the bottom of the barrel stuff is still damn good.Like if you go to Harbor freight and search for socket set and put price low to high as the filter, the only set that looks like 100% absolute garbage is the $10 40 piece set. Everything above that quality wise at least has decent sockets from the looks of them. Lets be honest though, $10 won't buy you a couple monsters and candy bars, so how the fuck are they even making a socket set at this price point unless cutting every corner known to man.

There’s things I buy that are expensive >power tools are Milwaukee >hand tools like screw drivers/wire strippers/pliers are Klein >the rest is harbor freight >Daytona jacks are legitimately great >i have basically every socket I could ever need and every ratchet wrench >box wrenches and ratcheting wrenches are great >odd tools you’ll only use a couple times There are tools that are legitimately better, but for weekend wrenching, harbor freight does a good enough job and I’ve done pretty much everything from swap motors to strip down cars.

ive done head bolts with pittsburgh torque wrench. but a "good" torque wrench with an angle gauge is relatively cheap and since everything is torque to yield now I will be upgrading.

You do need to buy premium if you're a professional, but for the average guy just working on his car on the weekends the chinesium works just fine.If you're gonna make a living out of this shit, chinesuim quickly becomes expensive, a tool like a torque wrench for example, becomes almost useless within a month of use on the average shop, but for the guy whose gonna use it once a year on his car? That shit will last for 10 years.
