AWD is not magic though. Summer tires will still be dangerous on an AWD vehicle in winter, especially when you're trying to stop.

FWD or RWD on winter tires is better at stopping and turning (i.e. better at not crashing) than AWD on all-season tires
AWD on winter tires is the best by far, though, since you won't crash AND you won't get stuck

Hey all you all season and summer tire people... What's your gameplan when some roastie cuts you off and brake checks you? Are you going to rear end her and take an at fault or are you going to steer into the curb and cause $xxxx damage to your vehicle? Both seem fucking stupid compared to just using winter tires. I could get by on drag slicks if I were the only person on the roads but unfortunately I have to share the roads with a bunch of barely functioning lifeforms.
