Get the buyer to pay first. If you sell to the family member and something with it immediately goes wrong it'll just cause resentment. Only matters if you like them of course, but still worth considering.

Selling to a family member is something you’ll forever regret. You WILL be on the hook for every single thing that goes wrong with the car until the end of time.
