I live in a shitty apartment complex, why the fuck do I see so many high end trims for trucks/BMWs/Mercedes. Help me make some sense into this.

If you make a median US salary of $61k, pay $8k in taxes, pay $1500/month in rent, and nothing in savings you'd have almost $3k in disposable income a month which is more than enough to lease a truck/bmw/Mercedes. Is it a good idea to live this way? Probably not.

Not everyone aspires to own a home. I fell for the house meme and I hate it. I'm just sitting on it right now because the area around me is growing and I know it'll be worth a bit in a few years. Then I'm moving back into an apartment or duplex and renting for the rest of my life.
